TNO Bouwinnovation Lab

a.s.r. real estate owns the laboratory for building innovation for TNO on the TU Delft Campus on behalf of the ASR Dutch Science Park Fund. This building, developed by Stone22, enables TNO to conduct innovative research and create unique research setups aimed at innovations in the construction sector.

By establishing this new laboratory on the TU Delft Campus, the collaboration and knowledge sharing between TNO and all partners will be further optimized.

Making TNO’s work visible starts at the main entrance where the transparent interspace connects the test halls with the laboratory and office wing. In addition to traffic space, this double-height corridor – between the building parts – is also a meeting place and space through which the installations to be tested run. The modular and sustainable facade consists of closed and open elements. The closed elements limit the heating of the building and reduce the required cooling. Cutouts in the facade make it possible to confirm and test innovative facade products. After the test period, the test rigs can be easily replaced.

Building size: About 3,000 m2
In Q3 2021, 290 PV panels are installed and the building is BREEAM in use Excellent certified.

The reused climate cells of the old lab building are located on the 2nd floor; typical of the work of TNO. There is room on the roof for test setups.
