Renovation of the first floor of CEG

A sustainable and circular redesign of the heart of CEG

The first floor of the main building of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences (CEG) is undergoing renovation. After decades of intensive use and various modifications, this central floor is in need of renewal. The goal: a future-proof, sustainable and inviting student street that serves as the faculty’s calling card. This project is the first step in an integrated approach to the CEG building (building 23). In this context, the indoor climate will also be significantly improved by the addition of modern air treatment and climate control systems. This intervention is an important part of the integrated approach and contributes to a healthy and attractive learning and working environment.

The Living Room

The renovated first floor will become the faculty’s “living room”: a representative and functional meeting place for students, staff and visitors. In addition to an attractive interior design, technical improvements will be made in the areas of air quality, energy consumption and safety. The result will be a sustainable, comfortable and inspiring environment that reflects CEG’s vision.

About TU Delft circularity pilot project

This project is a pilot for circular renovation within TU Delft. We aim to reuse existing materials, furniture and architectural elements as much as possible, while ensuring a comfortable and high-quality environment. We are using this project as an example to apply and test circular principles, so that we can gain knowledge and experience for future campus projects. On the first floor of CEG, the focus is on reusing materials and furniture. In this way, we are actively contributing to a circular and sustainable campus.
