Today marks a milestone for TU Delft and the city of Delft: we are proud to announce that the first series of large, transparent glass cubes has been installed in Innovatiedistrict Delft(IDD). These cubes are more than just containers; they are designed to make the innovative power of our city and TU Delft visible to everyone. This initiative arose from a passion to make Delft innovations more accessible to a wide audience and focuses on several important goals:
- Creating visibility: We want everyone to be able to see the wonderful Delft made innovations.
- A platform for entrepreneurs: Companies and start-ups affiliated with TU Delft deserve a place to share their ideas, and that is exactly what these cubes offer.
- Inspiring: We hope that these innovations will inspire residents, visitors and young people to get involved in innovation themselves.
- Connecting: These cubes not only help to strengthen the Delft Innovation District, but also to connect with other parts of Delft, such as Delft-West and the city centre.
A successful launch
With support from the Kansen voor West budget, the first innovation cubes were brought to life. Not only are they impressive, they have also been tested for weather resistance to ensure that they can fulfil their function in all seasons. The walking route from Delft Campus Station, via TU Delft Campus, to the city centre will be the first experience route where the innovations are literally put in the spotlight.
On 23 February 2026, the first cubes were successfully installed at various locations around the TU Delft Campus and in the city of Delft. These cubes promise a dynamic programme in which innovations will be presented periodically, making Delft’s innovative strength increasingly visible to the general public.
