VPRO Tegenlicht Meet Up

April 3, 2023 - 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

[This event will be in Dutch]

On Monday the 3rd of April, Lijm & Cultuur is hosting a VPRO Tegenlicht Meet Up about the episode Kloofdichters: people who reach out to the other side to close the gap. We will talk about this with you and two guests from the episode:

Tim S Jongers is a political scientist, public administration expert and publicist. His work focuses mainly on differences in society and the position of people in vulnerable situations, and how we can bridge these differences. For example, he wrote the booklet Insulting Broccoli. Since September 2022, he has been the director of the Wiardi Beckman Foundation. For The Correspondent, he writes in a personal capacity as Correspondent Living Together.

Eric Steegers is a gynecologist and head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Erasmus MC in Rotterdam. His research focuses on the development of the unborn child. With the knowledge from these studies, Steegers is committed to national and municipal programs that focus on care, especially for vulnerable groups of women.

Experts of experience on one side, whose voices too often disappear when highly educated policymakers decide on their neighborhoods, their benefits, their lives. And from the other side of the divide people who, out of conviction and principled modesty, sit down with someone on the couch to ask the question that seems to have increasingly disappeared from our welfare state: What do you actually need?

The Meet Up begins at 8 p.m. at Lijm & Cultuur. Want to watch the broadcast? You can do so at www.vpro.nl/tegenlicht.

Admission is free, but but the organizing team appreciate it if you let them know you’re coming by emailing info@lijmencultuur.nl.
