render Landbergstraat

Reconstruction Landbergstraat

The Landbergstraat has been redesigned both underground and above ground. The sewer system has been replaced, and cables and pipes have been replaced or relocated. In addition, the street looks different with new paving, more greenery, a separate pedestrian lane, and new lighting.

Sustainable design

TU Delft is working towards a CO2-neutral, circular, and climate-adaptive campus with attention to the improvement of biodiversity and quality of life. The reconstruction of Landbergstraat contributed to this.

Sewerage
The sewer system is designed for short, heavy showers, which are becoming increasingly frequent due to climate change.

Greenery
The new street is greener: there are green facades, and in the center there is a green strip with trees and low planting. This green strip also serves as a catchment for rainwater, and the trees provide shade and thus cooling in warm weather.

LED lighting
The lighting has been adjusted to the TU Delft standard: LED lighting. The lamp posts along Jaffalaan and in the parking lot between the TBM faculty and the international children’s center have also been replaced.

Reuse of old cobblestones
The cobblestones from the old street are being reused at the terminus of tram line 19, which will be built at P2.
