Fieldlabs and innovation clusters

What sets TU Delft Campus apart are the various innovation clusters and field labs around specific themes. These public-private testing grounds are hotspots for co-creation and speed up innovation.

What are fieldlabs?

Field labs are real-life testing sites where various parties collaborate to develop, test, learn to implement and scale up new technologies for commercial applications. Our field labs and innovation clusters bring together researchers, students, entrepreneurs and companies and enable them to accelerate innovation. Thanks to the close involvement of researchers, the industry, government agencies and end-users, these innovations can be brought to society faster.

The Green Village

At The Green Village, research institutions, businesses, public authorities and members of the public work together to research, test and refine innovations that help make the built environment energy-efficient, climate-resilient, nature-inclusive and circular. RoboHouse

At RoboHouse, companies, scientists and start-ups work together to initiate and develop new robotics solutions. They investigate how these innovations can contribute to operational issues and societal challenges, such as labour shortages. Theme: Robotics. Do IoT Fieldlab

Do IoT Fieldlab facilitates experiments with wireless technologies such as 5G, 5G Beyond and 6G. These experts accelerate the development of wireless innovations using sensors, robotics and AI. Theme: Connectivity. Contactperson: Bin Hu (B.Hu@tudelft.nl)

SAM XL

SAM XL develops smart robotics technology for large structures such as aircraft, ships and civil engineering projects. This enables industrial robots to learn to operate autonomously. Theme: Industrial robotics. Contact: Hein Koelman (H.W.J.M.Koelman@tudelft.nl)

Floodproof Holland

Flood Proof Holland is a field lab within the VPdelta innovation programme, focused on water safety and reducing flood risks. Theme: Water. Contact person: Lindsey Schwidder (L.S.Schwidder@tudelft.nl)

Mondai House of AI

At Mondai | House of AI, we work on smart collaborations and AI partnerships to shape the future of AI in the Netherlands and Europe. Theme: AI. Contact: Joost Poort (J.Poort@tudelft.nl)

Diergaarde Blijdorp

Since 2014, Blijdorp Zoo has served as a field lab for Delft University of Technology, within the VPdelta innovation programme. Theme: Water. Contactperson: Lindsey Schwidder (L.S.Schwidder@tudelft.nl)

Unmanned Valley Valkenburg

Unmanned Valley Valkenburg is a field lab for drone technology, located at the former naval airbase in Katwijk. Theme: Drones. Contactperson: Frank Mintjes (info@unmannedvalley.nl)

Hortus Botanicus

The Hortus is an experimental field lab where nature based innovations can be tested, evaluated, and showcased to the general public at the same time. We have tropical and sub-tropical glasshouses, a water garden, herb garden, and arboretum.

Quantum Delft

Quantum Delft is a unique ecosystem that has been decades in the making: a hotspot for excellent scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs who rigorously lead the way in quantum technology.

Mobility Innovation Centre Delft (MICD)

Rotterdam The Hague Innovation Airport (RHIA)

Rotterdam The Hague Innovation Airport (RHIA) is a community platform of companies, research institutions and government bodies working together to drive the transition towards a cleaner, quieter and smarter future for aviation. AMS institute

AMS Institute is working on solutions to the challenges facing the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area. The city serves as the test area, with residents participating in the research as testers, users and co-developers. Theme: Resilient urban development. Campus@Sea

This field lab is situated off the North Sea coast of the Hague. Proeftuin op de Noordzee focusses on testing of new products and applications for the maritime sector. Contact: info@campusatsea.nl
